Let your body be your guide!

    BySkyewaters January 15, 2022January 16, 2022

I feel anger because I’ve had…

    The change within…

    BySkyewaters January 5, 2022January 5, 2022

Hydrocephalus is by no means easy to live with The constant brain surgeries, doctors second guessing what you’re saying, refusing to help you, uncertainty and endless worrying. The list goes on… The biggest one, overall, was losing my vision intermittently. It scared me…Brain surgery #6 resolved all of that. The fight to get to that…

“Is this going to be wash, rinse, repeat ad infinitum?”

    BySkyewaters January 1, 2022January 1, 2022

To understand, you truly have to experience it for yourself “If you’ve been living with countless shunt revisions and replacements for a long time, I feel your pain. It must feel like a cruel punishment for a crime you didn’t commit. As a young adult without someone in your corner to help ease your pain…

Does the world turn its back on you, once you’re diagnosed with an incurable condition..?

    BySkyewaters December 12, 2021December 12, 2021

I know not everyone will agree with this post, and I’m OK with that. But, I’d like to believe that some of what I have to say, will resonate with people who have actually experienced it. For those who have, I hope this gives you a voice… My humble opinion To answer my own question,…

Let’s talk about it…post surgery depression!

    BySkyewaters December 5, 2021December 5, 2021

Trigger Warning: Depression, End of life/Suicide, Trauma. If you feel in the least affected, please do not read this. And, if you need to, seek help. I’ve gone through bouts of depression on and off throughout my life. I’m no stranger to this dark demon. Spiralling down the rabbit hole I didn’t really give it…

    Hydrocephalus sucks! Validating your feelings.

    BySkyewaters November 8, 2021November 9, 2021

So often I’ve felt a need just for some understanding when it comes to this condition. I’ve reached a point where I know and commit to memory that this condition is invisible and, as such, others around me will unfortunately treat it the same way. They’re simply oblivious to the effects and emotions that accompany…

Brain surgery cost is ridiculous. This is why.

    BySkyewaters November 3, 2021November 3, 2021

This post is more about the total cost involved with care, treatment, surgery and overall recovery. I would go so far as to say; aside from the financial cost, there’s an impact on ones mental, physical and emotional state as well. And, under the right circumstances, can have the same effect on your relationship with…

    When there’s a “kink” in the armour….

    BySkyewaters October 30, 2021October 30, 2021

Shunts, a bone of contention for many people diagnosed with Hydrocephalus. I would almost go so far as to say there’s a divide on the feeling towards this “lifesaving” device. Not everyone feels the love when it comes to them, but we all know that without them, things would be “challenging”, to say the least….

What are your little “quirks” before surgery?

    BySkyewaters October 12, 2021

It’s been quite a challenge getting back into writing. These last few months have certainly taken a toll on me but, progress is evident. I don’t know if it’s my last brain surgery in May, which left me paranoid but, I always find myself trying to solve the “world’s” problems before I have surgery. In…

Surgery again…but, thankfully, not brain surgery..!

    BySkyewaters September 29, 2021September 29, 2021

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to focus enough and write. Recovery from brain surgery #6 is still ongoing but, every day is getting better…The Vitamin B and Ginkgo Biloba that I’ve been taking, is certainly showing the benefits in terms of my cognitive function. Even though I’m not 100% yet, I can…
